In 2017, Sylvain Waserman was Vice-President of the French National Assembly for five years. During his term, he pushed through two laws on associative commitment and whistleblower protection.

In July 2023, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADEME.

Biography

Born in December 1967, Sylvain Waserman is a graduate of the Institut National des Télécommunications (Telecom Sud Paris), the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises, an MBA from the Theseus Institute and ENA (2006-2008). He began his professional career with British Telecom Professional Services before joining Cegetel, where he held senior management positions from 1997 to 2005. In 2009, he became Managing Director of the local public company Réseau GDS (Gaz de Strasbourg) until June 2017, and launched the heat networks, biomethane and energy performance contracting activities to create a “territorial cluster for energy transition”.

At the same time, he was Mayor of Quatzenheim from 2008 to 2017, Chairman of the Ackerland community of municipalities from 2008 to 2013, then Vice-Chairman of the Kochersberg Ackerland community of municipalities from 2013 to 2017. From 2012 to 2015, he was also Co-Chairman of the Unis-Cité network, a pioneering civic service association. In 2015, he became Regional Councillor for the Grand Est region, chairing the Economic Development Commission from 2016 to 2017.

Elected Modem deputy for Bas Rhin in June 2017, he is Vice-President of the National Assembly for 5 years until June 2022. During his term of office, he championed two laws on associative commitment and the protection of whistle-blowers. He is also the author of a report on the transparency and ethics of lobbying, as part of his delegation on interest representatives.

Sylvain Waserman was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) by decree on July 14, 2023.
