In 2003, Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion were 25 years old, had finished their economics studies and were carrying out a social audit in a factory in China. There, they discovered the reality of globalization.

At the same time, they were working with fair trade pioneer Tristan Lecomte on a fairer, more sustainable economy. On their return to France, they decided to reinvent a key product of their generation: the sneaker. In 2004, they founded VEJA with the main aim of creating sneakers differently, combining social projects, economic justice and ecological materials. VEJA means “look” in Portuguese, an invitation to look beyond sneakers and question how they are made.
