Biography
Madlen Sobkowiak is an Associate Professor in Accounting at EDHEC Business School, with a focus Sustainability Accounting and Reporting and the broader impact of business on society and the environment. Her research is driven by a commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate transparency. She delves into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting and the environmental and social responsibilities of corporate entities. With her deep roots in Environmental Accounting, her goal is to elucidate the complex interplay between corporations and their ecological contexts. Her scholarly work includes serving on the editorial boards and publishing her work in prominent academic journals, highlighting the interconnection between accounting practices and sustainable development. Prof. Sobkowiak is involved in pivotal science-business collaborations like the Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship (SeaBOS), which aligns major seafood companies towards enhancing the sustainability of marine practices. In addition to her research and teaching, she is also a council member of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR).
