Biography

Philippe MÉCHET was born on 22 January 1960 in Paris.

Graduated from the Institut d’études politiques de Paris in 1980, from the 3rd cycle of the Fondation nationale des sciences politiques, Research Fellow of Johns Hopkins University in Washington.

Head of Communications at Veolia Environnement from 2006 to 2010. President of the European Institute for Geo-economic Analysis and Editorialist at BFM and LCI between 2005 and 2006, Philippe MÉCHET was previously Director of Communications, Public Affairs and European Affairs at Électricité de France from 2003 to 2005.

Between 1995 and 2003, he was a member of the Executive Board and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Taylor Nelson Sofres, where he held the position of World Director of Political, Corporate and Public Opinion Research. He was Chief Executive Officer of EOS Gallup Europe during the same period.

From 1990 to 1995, he was Managing Director of the Louis Harris Institute France after starting his career at Sofres in 1985 as an engineer.

Research tenant at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) from 1983 to 1984.

Lecturer at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris since 1989, Secretary General of Lire la société since 1995, Philippe MÉCHET co-directed, between 1995 and 2003, the book Sofres L’État de l’opinion published each year, he is also administrator-treasurer of LADOMI and coordinator of the European Defence Circle.
