Biography

Didier Leroy is Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Corporation since April 2015. He is also Chief Competitive Officer of Toyota World and President of the Business Planning & Operations entity. He became the number two of the Japanese group. This is the first time a non-Japanese has reached such level of responsibility at Toyota.

A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences et Technologies de l’Ingénieur (ESSTIN) in Nancy, he began his career in the automobile industry in 1982 at Renault. He will remain there for 16 years and will become a close collaborator of Carlos Ghosn on the subjects of performance improvement. He joined Toyota in 1998 to take over the creation of the Toyota plant near Valenciennes. From 2010 to 2015, he will direct all of Toyota’s industrial and commercial activities in Europe. Under its leadership, the European subsidiary will quickly become profitable again. Akio Toyoda has entrusted him with all operations (Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, R & D, Purchasing …) outside Japan. For the Japanese market, he is in charge of Sales and Marketing.

A native of Dechy in the North of France, Didier Leroy is passionate about sports, including football, tennis and … car racing.
